Stanley Dock Tobacco Warehouse, (Stanley Dock, Liverpool, England) is a grade II listed building and is the world's largest brick warehouse. Standing 125 foot (38 m) high, the building was at the time of its construction in 1901, claimed to be the world's largest building in terms of area. The 14 storey building spans across 36 acres (150,000 m2) and its construction used 27 million bricks, 30,000 panes of glass and 8,000 tons of steel

The overall design is by A.G. Lyster, the Dock Engineer, but Arthur Berrington almost certainly played a part. The warehouse was a late addition to the Stanley Dock complex and was built on land reclaimed from the dock. Stanley Dock is accessible from the dock system or by barge from the Leeds and Liverpool Canal which enters under Great Howard Street bridge.

With the decline of trade going through Liverpool, the warehouse fell into disuse in the 1980s and gradually into disrepair. More recently the building has featured in the Stop the Rot conservation campaign by the Liverpool Echo newspaper. Part of the ground floor of the warehouse is used for the Sunday Heritage Market.

.... theres a very good reason why I'm only showing the window of this house, it is because this house was bought by John Lennon for his family and has NEVER been seen before...you wont see it on any Beatles tour...you can search the internet all day and you wont find a pic of it...

This is the last house John Lennon slept in in Liverpool...John was with Yoko Ono..

My son is Gerard Fleming Jnr, he is a LIPA graduate with honours..
He is a music teacher and record producer with a USA No 1 dance chart hit

The street where I was born... Bob Dylan...re-visited..

This is Dublin Street off Gt Howard Street and the Dock Road in north Liverpool..the photo below shows the doorway and steps that Bob Dylan sat on with local kids on the 14th May 1966....the day Dylan played the Odeon on London Road Liverpool....I was born on Dublin Street, in 1957 upstairs in what was then The Brown Cow pub which my mam had for about 8 or 9 years from around 1956 till around 1964...I'm not sure how long we lived in The Brown Cow pub.....but I have a few memories of playing on the streets and wasteland in >> THIS VIDEO

The pub premises are still there today as The Atlantic Cafe...which is about 150 yards left of my photo above..

Lewis's.. the last days.

.....I was with my Dad when he bought our radiogram from Lewis's, me Mam said.... 'you get him that stereo thingy that he wants'..
I'll have one speaker over there, and another one over there, so I thought lying in bed at night weeks before the big event of me and my dad going into town for my new sterero seperates thingy with the flip up and down plassie lid back in 1970....there it is Dad, I want that one !!....
No yer dont, yer know know nothing about music... we'll have that radiogram over there...HMV !!..yer cant beat HMV lad..!!.....righhhhhhhhhhhhht Dad...!

I got me own back though...I stuck me Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon stickers all over it..
Sorriest thing I ever done !...happy days..

A big obsession of mine for a long long time has been finding out things about The Beatles around Liverpool....I've always wanted to know where they went as kids, where John Lennon knocked about in Woolton..what the inside of his Hope Street Art College looked like..here I am in Liverpool and all I can find is pictures of Penny Lane and Mathew Street..can't be having that !!...
So, off I go knocking on doors thinking I'll get nowhere...how wrong I could be !..I've had the time of my life photographing places I'd never Imagined I'd get photographs of relating to The Beatles around Liverpool..and, more Importantly to me..I've met and become friends with people that again, I never ever thought I'd meet.

This photograph shows the stage in the Calderstones School hall...this was Quarry Bank school that John Lennon attended...and the stage is where John and his Quarry Men would put on Christmas etc gigs for their school mates.. (LEFT CLICK ALL PHOTOS TO ENLARGE..)

The Bascule Bridge... the 'Decisive Moment'

This is probably the best photograph I will ever take..I love this photograph as it is my Cartier Bresson 'Decisive Moment'...I love it even more as it is me and my mates 40 years ago...although to be honest I think our limit was off the bridge railings....I know these lads, well, they knew me as one of them is my sons mate...their next trick was to jump off the Stanley Tobacco Warehouse right of pic from the 2nd to top floor....of course I got them shots as well...being their mate like...y'know !!
